DODGE
Move quickly to one side to avoid being hit by a player, projectile, or obstacle.
I dodged left at the last second and the fireball flew right past me — perfect timing!
SPRINT
Run at full speed for a short burst — much faster than regular movement.
I sprinted across the open field before the sniper could lock on to my position.
RESPAWN
Come back into the game at a set location after your character has been eliminated.
I respawned at the checkpoint — luckily I did not have to start the whole level again.
COLLIDE
Hit another player or object with force — you crash into each other.
Two players collided at the top of the ramp and both of them flew off the edge!
DASH
Move in a sudden, short burst of speed — usually triggered by a special ability or key.
I dashed through the closing door just before it shut — one second later and I was out.
LEAP
Jump a long distance or high into the air in one powerful movement.
My character leapt across the gap between the two platforms — it was incredibly close!
CHARGE
Move fast and directly toward a target — usually to attack or break through something.
He charged straight at the boss without thinking — and got knocked back immediately.
LUNGE
Thrust your body forward suddenly in one direction — usually to attack or grab something.
I lunged forward with my sword and landed the hit just before the boss could block it.

DODGE

She dodged the ball in dodgeball — she was too fast for anyone to hit her all match.
SPRINT
Run at top speed — usually over a short distance or for a brief burst.
He sprinted to catch the bus but it pulled away just as he reached the stop.
RESPAWN
(informal) Come back and try again after failing — used outside of games too.
I failed the driving test but I am respawning next month — I will pass it this time.
COLLIDE
Crash into another person or object with force — often by accident.
Two cyclists collided at the roundabout — thankfully neither of them was seriously hurt.
DASH
Move somewhere very quickly — usually because you are in a hurry.
I dashed out of the classroom and made it to lunch before the queue got too long.
LEAP
Jump over, across, or up onto something with power and distance.
The goalkeeper leapt to her right and pushed the penalty wide of the post.
CHARGE
Move quickly and forcefully toward something — often in sport or protest.
The striker charged forward and got to the loose ball ahead of the defender.
LUNGE
Thrust your body suddenly forward — to reach, grab, or make contact with something.
The fencer lunged at her opponent and scored the deciding point in the final round.

Action verbs describe things you DO — physical movements like dodge, sprint, leap, and charge. In English, use the simple present for things that happen regularly, and the simple past for things that already happened. Action verbs do NOT need a helper verb like IS or ARE.

Run suddenly and as fast as possible — usually to escape or reach something quickly.

CHARGE HEAD-ON
Attack directly from the front — no tricks, no detours, just straight at the target.
Do not charge head-on at that boss — you will get destroyed. Go around and flank it.
He charged head-on into the argument instead of staying calm — it only made things worse.
LEAP INTO ACTION
Start doing something immediately and with energy — do not hesitate.
Leap into action as soon as the round starts — the first team to move has the advantage.
When the fire alarm went off the staff leapt into action and evacuated the building in minutes.
COLLIDE WITH REALITY
Discover that something you believed was wrong — reality hits you hard.
A lot of new players collide with reality on level five — it is where the game gets truly hard.
She had big plans for the project but collided with reality when the budget was cut in half.
RESPAWN AND TRY AGAIN
Go back to the start after failing — pick yourself up and have another go.
Respawn and try again — the best players are not the ones who never fail. They just keep going.
She failed the exam twice but respawned and tried again — third time she passed with top marks.

I did! That moment where you dodged the meteor at the last second — honestly stunning. I actually screamed.
Pure instinct! I knew if I sprinted left I would get hit, so I dodged right instead. The boss completely missed.

Dodge, sprint, respawn, collide, dash, leap, charge, lunge — these are not just game words. Sport commentators use them constantly!
